Home Introducing Shir Neshamah Alef Beit Gimel Dalet Hei
Chavarah Dalet

Chavurah Dalet is a Jewish fellowship of 7 family units. Formed in 2002, we are really enjoying getting to know one another. Most of us met through our Religious School. Everyone in our chavurah is great at cooking, so we call ourselves “The Food Chavurah”! We also love singing, although we’re still learning many of the songs in the Shir Neshamah siddur. Our meetings take place twice a month, usually on Friday or Saturday.
The children all get along really well and are great friends! Our members have varied levels of Jewish religious and cultural knowledge and we continue to learn from each other. Most of us are interfaith families, but everyone participates actively and with a sincere love of Judaism.
We enjoy celebrating Shabbat together. We have done several Torah services, built a Sukkah, shared Passover seders, broken Yom Kippur fasts together. Our programs have included discussions, meditation exercises, the meaning of Jewish symbols, and always music plus lots of singing, singing, singing. Three of the girls in our chavurah are preparing for their Bat Mitzvah celebration, which will occur in 2004-5.
Recently our activities have expanded to include Tikkun Olam projects. We wrapped holiday gifts for children; we purchased sheep as an assist to third world families becoming self-sufficient.
We have been blessed with the guidance of Rabbi Groesberg in establishing Chavurah Dalet. It has given us the opportunity to express our joy in being Jewish within an accepting and caring community. We are lucky to have found one other.
