What Is The Endowment for Jewish Youth ?

The Endowment for Jewish Youth (EJY) is a non-profit, IRS accredited California corporation established in 1999. Funded entirely by voluntary donations, it has no employees and none of its board members or officers receives any financial compensation. All the corporation’s incomes, less administrative expenditures, are disbursed in the form of scholarships. All contributions are fully tax-deductible as permitted by law. EJY’s tax I.D. number is 94-3346571.

What is EJY’s Mission ?

Continuity of the Jewish people is assured only if each generation commits itself to Judaism. EJY’s general mission is to support peer experiences that help Jewish youths develop positive self-images. At present this support takes the form of scholarships to help defray the cost of a child’s stay at a Jewish summer sleep-away camp. No means-testing is involved in the process. Although EJY is sympathetic to the ideas of Jewish Renewal, it does not limit its awards to families associated with that movement.

What Is The Application Process ?

1. Request an application form by contacting EJY; fill it out; return it to EJY by March 15.

2. Upon receipt of the camp’s notice confirming dates and costs of the stay, send a photocopy to EJY.

3. EJY will inform you regarding approval of your request for a scholarship; and if approved, the amount.

4. Payment will be made directly to the camp. EJY is legally authorized to make disbursements only to IRS accredited 501(c)3 non-profit corporations. The camp will then reimburse or credit the account of the camper’s parent/legal guardian.
